Ability

Unsure of your ability or what we call 'Intermediate' and 'Advanced'?

We know of everyone's fear of being 'the one' that holds the group up, and we know what it's like to have to wait on slow pokes on a powder day! That's why we split all our programs into differing ability levels.

We have created a few minutes of footage to show the different levels of ability that each program caters to. If you are unsure what program is best suited to you, take a look at the footage and find a program that caters to your ability level.

Intermediate

Advanced

Suitable for:
Powder Development Program
Advanced Powder Tour
Hokkaido Powder Tour

Our programs are suited to anyone intermediate and above.

Intermediate we classify as anyone who is confident turning and riding blue runs. It does not matter if you have never ridden powder before....that is why you go to Japan! We will teach you the right way to do it, and you will build in confidence and ability.

High-Intermediate we classify as someone who is condident riding all the mountain. It might not be the prettiest, but you can make it down most slopes, and you are ready to push yourself to be better and be challenged by others around you. You may ski or ride some black runs normally, but may not have skied or ridden deep powder before.

Advanced we classify as anyone who can ski and ride all the mountain with confidence in all conditions, has no problem taking on the toughest slopes that a mountain has to offer, and is always out to find the next stash of powder or drop to hit.

If you are planning on travelling with your partner, or friends of different standards then we have a few programs that cater to a variety of standards - such as the Powder Development Program and the Hokkaido Powder Tour.

Tip: If you are still unsure of your ability or how you or your group will fit in, we recommend you pick the ‘Powder Development Program’ as it caters to a wide range of abilities!

* Please note that we do not cater to beginners on the Japan Powder Tours. Anyone who attends a program and is not up to the minimum standard of their program depicted above will be required to attend remedial lessons at the local ski school at their own expense before re-joining the group.
Rest assured, we are realistic and understand that people may not have skied or boarded for 5 years, or may be recovering from a previous injury ... that is fine ... however we are not here to teach skiers 'stem-christies' or snowboarders 'falling-leaf'. You will find yourself holding up the group.
